Preparing families and children for lasting permanency

PREPARE FUTURES

Across Alaska, there are over 150 legally free youth in foster care, waiting for permanency of some kind. Beacon Hill is committed to reducing trauma and restoring hope for these youth.
Legally Free youth are children in foster care that can not return to their family of origin after exhaustive efforts for reunification. They now seek a forever family for permanency; this could include adoption, adult adoption, or guardianship.
Beacon Hill's Permanency Department matches youth with equipped forever families and supports both the youth and families for lasting stability.

The Heart Gallery of Alaska utilizes the power of media to capture the individuality of children living in foster care in order to advocate for their adoption, raise public awareness about their needs, and obtain support to help meet those needs.
The decision for a youth to participate in the Heart Gallery is made by the youth & their support team.

The SEEN Initiative works alongside a child's advocacy team to shorten the time youth are waiting for permanency through one-on-one counseling and mentorship with in-depth adoption preparation.
Our SEEN Initiative utilizes trained counselors as well as professional volunteers to support youth with long-term stability in permanency.
