Beacon Hill does not provide supervision of family contact at the Mat-Su location. Supervision must be provided by a caseworker approved family contact supporter. 

WHAT IS FAMILY CONTACT AND WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Family Contact is when kids in foster care spend time with their family. The Mat-Su Family Support Center provides a warm, friendly, home-like setting with a fully stocked kitchen, toys, and playground for natural family activities. 

Family Contact matters because it maintains family relationships, reduces trauma to kids in foster care, strengthens families and build resiliency, and increases reunification.

How to Use

IDENTIFY

A SAFE & RESPONSIBILE FACILITATOR

Caseworker explores possible relatives, friends, foster parent, or faith community support who can provide supervision of family contact.

The Family Support Center is open 8am-8pm/ 7 days a week.

Complete the online Facility Use Request Form at least three business days in advance.

Instructions will be provided on how to access the building once your reservation is confirmed.

  • Facilitates and coaches family contact

  • Receives Family Contact Best Practices training and coaching

  • Documents feedback to caseworker

  • Cleans and organizes Support Center OR provides skill for occasional maintenance projects

  • Flexible scheduling available for Individuals or small group volunteers

  • Pantry items such as snacks, drinks, and non-perishable meal kits

  • Diapers, wipes, or cleaning products

  • Consumable craft supplies and toys
